Instrumental Instruction
At Carrick, we work closely with our partners in the Instrumental Instruction Team which form the South Ayrshire Music Service. We have 5 visiting instructors as follows:
Monday - Mr Gonzalez (Woodwind)
Tuesday - Mr Welsh (Percussion) and Mr Walker (Brass)
Wednesday - Mr Henderson (Guitar)
Thursday - Mr Stevenson (Bagpipes)
Young people can sign up to a contract to receive instruction, with a free trial period. There are exemptions in place from charging, and individual circumstances can be discussed in more detail with the team at [email protected] In the first instance, if a young person is interested in receiving music tuition, they should speak to their classroom Music teacher who will liaise with the instructor directly.
Instrumental Instruction is a great way of becoming more involved in the extra-curricular life of the Music department and within the local authority with a wide range of ensembles and performance opportunities being offered throughout the session. It can be very rewarding to perform as part of a larger group, and participation in these can also help contribute towards other awards such as Duke of Edinburgh.
